Dr Kathryn Perry

I am a member of the Australian Dental Association, Vardiman Dental Study Association (2006-2007 Vice President of a group of enthusiastic dentists and specialists) Australian Computerized Dental Association, Australasian Osseointegration Society and Cerec® Club.

I graduated from the University of Queensland and have worked continuously in a variety of dental practices, in Brisbane and overseas. I enjoy many aspects of dentistry, especially advances in dental technologies that are generally computer driven. Digital x-rays and cameras have enhanced the ease of communication with my patients as now you can see your tooth's crack, decay, abscess etc. I love our Cerec® technology that transforms a cracked weakened tooth into a strong, natural-looking, "work of art" in the space of 2 hours. I love to glaze my Cerec® crowns in a kiln to obtain the best variety of tooth colour possible. I have had two large fillings replaced with Cerec® by other dentists in my practice, which shows my faith and enthusiasm for this new technology.

The latest technology I have brought into our practice is Nobel BioCare® implant system. Using Nobel BioCare®, I can now place a new titanium root in place and then lay a crown over the new root, to fill in lost or missing teeth. This takes three to four hours for a new tooth. Sometimes if a tooth needs to be extracted, I can place an immediate implant in place with the final crown being fitted a few months later.

My hobbies include swimming, tennis, netball and using the gym - I need to undertake all of these activities as I also love to eat! My attempts at fishing generally result in 'feeding the fish', yet I still enjoy relaxing on the Noosa river with my husband. I enjoy painting (as is evident by the pictures on the surgery's walls), quilting and ceramics. I love working in our unusual and arty yet efficient dental surgery. My four grown-up children are a constant source of delight and I am extremely proud of their achievements and life time goals.
